We grew up in the Lehigh Valley and have watched it grow rapidly over the last 35 years, and in that time we also watched life start moving more rapidly. When we started Surly Hedgehog in 2014, we wanted our focus (no pun intended) to be on creating simple, affordable, eye-catching pieces of art that made people want to slow down and think of the simple things that made them smile.
In addition to matted prints, we offer handmade gifts such as bookmarks and coasters made with epoxy resin and dried flowers; keychains, wine glass charms, and laser-etched glassware. I have been crafting my entire life. I owned a craft store when I was younger and sold it when I had my children. I continued to craft. I have done all kinds of crafts. After my children were grown I opened a bead shop. I had that for 7 years. I finally fell into the art of dots and was hooked. It is the most relaxing art I have ever done. I feel like the designs tell you what they want to be.
If it can be painted on I can dot on it. I have a stand at Jennifer’s Unique Boutique up at the Lehigh Valley Mall. I do numerous craft shows during the year including Mayfair, Leesport Craft show, Wind Creek Outlet Craft show, Lower Macungie Community Center Craft Show to name a few. I will definitely be doing more in the future.
I dot pots and fill them with cute miniatures and artificial succulents. I will be adding empty pots to my inventory so you can plant your own plants in them. I dot Mandelas and wood cutouts. I can make any animal or shape you want. I also make ornaments and will be starting on bookmarks soon.

I am a retired kindergarten teacher and grandmother of two adorable grandsons! I’ve always liked creating: either activities for my classroom, things for our home and crafting. When our son graduated from college I decided to make him a T shirt quilt. It was fun, challenging and so rewarding. My son loved it and needless to say, I caught the sewing/quilting bug and a fabric addiction! That has led me to find ways to use up a ship load of cotton fabric I’ve collected over the last 3 years!
I sell my home goods at area craft fairs and have created a Facebook page called Stitches by Sharon Lane. I like to work with my clients to create custom items which match their personality and home decor. Baby quilts can also be ordered and are priced according to materials and time spent. At a school in Niesky, Germany, boys were taught to make a many-pointed star as part of a math lesson. This “Moravian Star” has now become synonymous with how the Moravians celebrate the importance of the Christmas season and the light it brings.
As a student at Moravian College, now Moravian University, I bought a star making kit at the Moravian Book Shop and taught myself. I have been making them now for more than 40 years! I have given them as wedding, Christmas, and birthday gifts, made them for baby and wedding showers, created mobiles, and hung them on trees and displayed them in vases and bowls. For years my friends encouraged me to take the leap and create a business with them! I hope my stars bring you a ray of light and hope in a weary world.

I’m Nina Boodhansingh, I am an abstract painter and collage artist, as well as the Co-owner, Director, and Curator of Midnight Galley.
My paintings can be described as ethereal. Inspired by nature, skyscapes, landscapes, microscopic images, and the cosmos, each painting represents familiar elements within an abstract world. The surface of the work has a tangible texture built with paint, various gel mediums, sand, and/or metal leaf. Modeling layers, dimensions, and illusions of space in the paintings, the finished pieces suggest parallel, yet distant, worlds. Evoking a dream-like quality, there is a mood of calmness in each piece. I also works with collage, mixed media, and dabble in drawing. Some of my work reflects on living with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trichotillomania, and endometriosis.

I have called the Lehigh Valley my home for 32 years. Seven years ago I lost the love of my life, my husband. As part of my healing process and to discover who I was without him, I started taking various classes. I fell in love with handmade mosaics.
